Privacy Policy
Effective date: February 06, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how PocketSentry (the “App”) handles information. PocketSentry is designed to be local‑first: evidence is stored on your device unless you choose to back it up using your own services (for example, Google Photos).
What the App does
- Detects motion and/or charging unplug events to trigger an alarm while armed.
- Allows the user to disarm using an in‑app PIN (and optional biometric check, when available).
- Can capture “evidence photos” using your device camera in specific scenarios (see below).
Evidence photos
PocketSentry can capture photos as evidence only when you enable the relevant features and grant camera permission.
- Wrong‑PIN / failed disarm attempt photos: When someone enters an incorrect in‑app PIN (or fails an in‑app biometric check), the app may capture a front‑camera photo.
- Alarm‑trigger photos (optional): If you enable “Alarm trigger photos” in Settings, PocketSentry may capture up to two front‑camera photos when the alarm starts (and an optional second shot a few seconds later, only if the alarm is still active).
Where evidence is stored
- In‑app private storage: Evidence is saved to app‑private storage on your device and shown in the in‑app Evidence Gallery.
- Optional device Photos (DCIM): If you enable “Save evidence to Photos (DCIM),” PocketSentry also saves a copy to
DCIM/PocketSentryEvidenceusing Android MediaStore. This may allow services like Google Photos to back it up (depending on your Google Photos settings).
Retention
- In‑app copies: PocketSentry automatically deletes in‑app evidence copies older than approximately 30 days to reduce storage use.
- DCIM copies: PocketSentry does not automatically delete DCIM/Photos copies. You control those in your Photos app.
Permissions
- Camera: required for setup photo and evidence photos (if enabled).
- Notifications / alarms: required to present reliable alarm notifications and playback.
- Other device settings: you may choose to disable battery optimizations so the alarm remains reliable while locked.
Data collection and sharing
PocketSentry does not sell your personal information. By default, the app does not transmit your evidence photos to our servers. Evidence remains on your device unless you enable third‑party backups (for example, Google Photos) or you share it yourself.
Security
We use reasonable measures within the app to reduce accidental exposure of evidence (for example, a hidden in‑app gallery). However, no mobile device is perfectly secure. Your device security settings (PIN/biometrics, OS updates) matter.
Children
PocketSentry is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy. Updates will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
