How to use PocketSentry
PocketSentry is an anti‑theft motion + unplug alarm. It works best when you complete setup and allow the recommended permissions.
Setup
- Add your owner photo (used on the alarm screen).
- Set your PocketSentry PIN (used to disarm).
- Complete the reliability steps (battery optimization, notifications).
Arming
- Tap Arm.
- Wait for the countdown.
- Set the phone down. If it moves or is unplugged (if enabled), the alarm triggers.
Disarming
- Open PocketSentry and disarm using your in‑app PIN.
- If your device supports it, you may also be asked for biometrics.
Evidence Photos
- Wrong PIN / failed disarm attempts: PocketSentry can capture a photo when someone enters the wrong PIN (or fails an in‑app biometric check).
- Alarm trigger photos (optional): You can enable this in Settings to capture up to two front‑camera photos when the alarm starts (OFF by default).
- Save to Photos (DCIM): Recommended ON if you want Google Photos backup. Otherwise evidence stays only in the in‑app gallery.
Troubleshooting
- If the alarm isn’t reliable, complete the in‑app “Fix Reliability” steps.
- Some phones aggressively kill background services unless you disable battery optimization for PocketSentry.
